Otley Town Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of David Cope as the club’s new First Team Manager. He will be joined by Assistant Manager Tom Devine and GK Development Coach Jonny Graham.
David brings a wealth of experience from his involvement with clubs from the NCEL and has a proven track record in the West Yorkshire Premier League. David also has a strong network of contacts across West Yorkshire which will help strengthen our current squad and is passionate to develop young players and create a pathway for the club to progress.
Club Chairman Kai Arter commented :
“The club wanted to take its time appointing a new First Team Manager to try and get the best candidate we could so that we can build the long term pathway for the club to progress to the next level.
We feel we have a very experienced Manager joining us who shares our goals to challenge on all fronts and we share the long term plans for this new project for Otley Town FC and the local community.
We wish David and his back room team success and are sure that all the players and supporters will get behind them.”
New manager David Cope added : “Before Otley Town FC approached me I had discussed with the Headingley AFC committee and told them no matter what happens I would be leaving at the end of the season. Otley Town has great potential on and off the field and need to be playing in the Premier League as quickly as possible so I had a decision to make now or at the end of the season. My choice was to move once I had ensured I had left everything in order at Headingley.
Although mid-season, the opportunity was too good to turn down. There are 33 points still to play for and will be plenty of twists and turns to come in the league I am sure starting with Leeds City on Saturday weather permitting.
We look forward to meeting everyone connected with club to start our journey together.”
Town take on Leeds City at the Old Showfield on Saturday (11th) with a 2pm kick off. All support is welcomed as always.
